Banker secures seat in Legislative council election

A senior banker from the Isle of Man has secured a seat on the legislative council after an election at a special sitting of the House of Keys.

Tony Wild, who currently works for Standard Bank, will take the seat left vacant after Clare Christian became President of Tynwald last July.

Mr Wild, whose term of office ends in February 2013, polled 16 votes at a sitting of the House of Keys on Monday.

His only opponent, Arbory commissioner, Brian Rae received five votes.

Mr Wild will be sworn into the legislative council by the first deemster, on 13 December.
