'Quit' classes arranged to help people give up smoking
A series of lunchtime classes to help people give up smoking have been arranged by the government.
The new Quit4You service, from public health, will run from 3 January until the end of March.
A clinic will be held every Tuesday from 12.30 GMT to 13.30 GMT at the Promenade Methodist Church in Douglas.
Health minister David Anderson said research showed smokers are four times more likely to be successful in efforts to give up with this kind of support.
A public health spokesperson added: "The Quit4You clinics are designed to be a one-stop shop for anyone who is thinking about quitting smoking to drop in for free practical advice and regular support throughout their quit attempt.
"The clinics are not run as groups, instead, support comes in the form of informal one-to-one sessions with a specialist stop smoking advisor."
