Isle of man police warn of winter fuel theft
Isle of Man residents are being warned to be "extra vigilant" to help combat winter fuel theft.
The police are appealing for public information about any "suspicious activity" seen over the holiday period.
Attempts to steal heating oil, car fuel and scrap metal are expected to be stepped up over Christmas and the new year.
Police said numbers of patrols on building sites and other working areas would increase during the holidays.
"If you see something that you think is suspicious such as a van or car that does not normally frequent an area or just looks out of place, note the registration and let the police know," said a spokesman.
