Resident rescued from Douglas flat fire

A resident of a flat in the Isle of Man had to be rescued from their bed after a fire broke out in their front room.

Fire crews were called to the flat on Bucks Road in Douglas when they were alerted to smoke coming from the property just after 01:00 GMT.

A team of fire officers in breathing apparatus went into the building and brought the fire under control.

The person was rescued and taken to hospital as a precaution, as they were suffering from the effects of smoke.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated, but is not thought to be suspicious.
