Slight rise in Isle of Man unemployment

Isle of Man unemployment rose in the run up to Christmas, according to official Treasury figures.

The current unemployment rate on the island is now 2.2%.

At the end of December 2011, the total number of people unemployed was 979 - 713 men and 266 women.

Treasury Minister Eddie Teare said "seasonal factors" could mean a rise in unemployment over the winter.
