Isle of Man ferry Ben-my-Chree sailings resume

Ferry services between Douglas on the Isle of Man and Birkenhead have resumed following the cancellation of Saturday services due to engine trouble.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company abandoned sailings of the Ben-my-Chree after problems with one of its engines.

The ship left for Birkenhead at 07:54 GMT and has two other planned sailings - the return to Douglas and another to Heysham.

Planned maintenance took place on Saturday evening.

Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: "We completed the necessary repair work overnight and the 0800 to Birkenhead has departed on time.

"We apologise again for any inconvenience caused to our passengers."
