'Tacky' Isle of Man street set for revamp
A shopping area in Douglas has been earmarked for a revamp after traders set up an action group claiming the area was "tacky and neglected".
Castle Street retailers asked the government to include the area in the town's regeneration plans.
A government spokesman said after talks with retailers it has been decided to bring forward improvements.
The changes are set to include new paving, lighting and signage and could begin next year.
The regeneration plans are part of an island-wide scheme to revive the towns and villages around the Isle of Man.
The government hopes the projects will reinstate a sense of civic pride and help boost the local economy.
