Shake up of Isle of Man Council of Ministers announced
Chief Minister Allan Bell has announced that Tim Crookall has been appointed as education minister.
He takes over from Peter Karran who was sacked from the position after opposing a decision to invest millions of pounds in the film industry.
MHK Graham Cregeen will take over Mr Crookall's former post as minister for community culture and leisure.
Mr Crookall said he was "delighted" and added that he was "more than happy" to take on the role.
He said: "When I was first asked to be a minister, the education department was certainly one I was interested in.
"I will now have meetings with senior officials to discuss the challenges ahead."
Chief minister Allan Bell said: "The education department has had more than its fair share of challenges over the past few months and it is important that we have an experienced minister to step into the role to take education into calmer waters in the time ahead."
