A service to remember victims of the Holocaust has taken place in the Isle of Man.

The service at Peel Cathedral, which welcomed people of all faiths, focused on the theme of building bridges.

The event was organised by the Council of Ministers and supported by local schools and churches.

Services will be held across the British Isles to mark the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1945.

A government spokesman said: "The day will provide an opportunity for everyone to learn lessons from the Holocaust, Nazi persecution and subsequent genocides and apply them to the present day to create a safer, better future.

"People of all faiths and no faith are welcome to attend."
