Isle of Man hospital acts after bowel surgery review

Bowel surgery can resume at a hospital in the Isle of Man after an series of improvements were introduced.

All bowel surgery Noble's Hospital was suspended last November after a series of problems occurred during a two-month period.

The action plan follows a series of recommendations put forward by a senior consultant from a UK teaching hospital.

Health Minister David Anderson said most of the work has already been completed and surgery can now resume.

He added: "The plan ensures that the team can continue to develop services... whilst making sure that patients undergoing highly complex and high risk procedures, such as bowel surgery, are as safe as we can possibly make them."
