Isle of Man burglaries prompt police warning
A spate of burglaries in the Isle of Man has prompted a warning from police for residents to be vigilant.
The constabulary said in recent months there have been 17 domestic burglaries on the island, mostly involving the theft of electrical goods.
Most happened in Douglas, but there have also been two reports from southern towns.
Dt Sgt Michelle McKillop said: "We are asking people to be security conscious, especially in the run-up to Christmas."
She added: "We understand that some people feel comfortable leaving their premises insecure but why take the chance? Please lock your doors and close your windows, especially when you leave your home unattended."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police headquarters.
