Isle of Man public sector rent to rise by 5%

People living in public-sector homes in the Isle of Man will see their rent rise by 5% next year, it has been announced.

When introduced on 1 April, the average rise for general housing will be about £4 per week, with a 3-bed household paying about £90 per week.

Renting a similar property in the private sector typically costs about £250 per week.

A government spokesman said tenants on housing benefits would not be affected.
