Isle of Man unemployment: Significant fall in number of people out of work

Unemployment on the Isle of Man fell significantly in December compared with the same month in 2013.

At the end of 2014, 882 Manx residents were out of work. In 2013 there were 1,159 unemployed.

Isle of Man treasury figures now put the unemployment rate at 2.0% - the lowest December figure since 2010 - compared with 2.6% in 2013.

The figures show 622 men and 260 women were unemployed at the end of last year.

During the month, 317 vacancies were notified to the Isle of Man Job Centre with 129 positions remaining vacant.
