Sailings between the Isle of Man and Heysham have been switched to Birkenhead because of a poor weather forecast around the Lancashire port.

The scheduled 08:45 GMT service to Heysham instead departed for Birkenhead at 08:00 whilst the return crossing will leave at 14:00.

The Steam Packet Company said other sailings should remain as scheduled.

Gale force winds in the Irish Sea forced the cancellation of several ferry sailings on Monday.
