Gale force winds predicted for the Irish Sea have forced the cancellation of ferry sailings between the Isle of Man and the UK.

Monday's 19:45 BST journey from the island and the return at 02:15 on Tuesday have both been cancelled.

The Steam Packet Company said Tuesday's sailing to Liverpool at 07.30 BST and the return at 11.15 will also not sail.

Wednesday sailings are subject to disruption. All passengers are advised to contact the ferry operators.

The Isle of Man Met Office said wind speeds could "occasionally reach severe gale force nine" at the beginning of the week.
