Isle of Man unemployment figures for March are the lowest for seven years, according to an official report.

Manx treasury figures show that at the end of March, there were 865 people out of work - representing an unemployment rate of 1.9%.

This is a decrease of 196 compared to March 2014.

A Manx government spokesman added that the annual rate of inflation in March stood at -0.5%, up from -1% in February, due to rising fuel prices.

Currently 70% of unemployed Manx residents are men (606) and 30% are women (259).

During March, 652 job vacancies were notified to the Isle of Man Job Centre, with 428 positions remaining vacant.
