More than 1,000 children are to compete in the 15th Manx Youth Games which are taking place in Douglas.

The Isle of Man's largest annual sporting event for children is made up of 14 sports including athletics, swimming and football.

Former Scotland rugby union captain Gavin Hastings, who earned 61 caps for his country, is the guest of honour.

This year's event takes place at multiple venues due to the ongoing works after last year's flooding.

The National Sports Centre in Douglas, where the games have been held since 2002, was "extensively damaged" during flash floods in December.

Facilities including the sports halls, running track and gymnastics centre were badly damaged.
