Beanie finds out how to get ready for a dog show

As part of the BBC Channel Islands news "Free Friday" feature, presenter Gwyn Garfield-Bennett and her dog Beanie found out what preparations are needed for a Dog Show.

Free Friday is a weekly feature where BBC Channel Islands News showcases events and things you and your friends and family can take part in that are free or cost very little.

On Saturday the Kennel Club of Jersey are holding their first Championship show of the year.

Top dogs from the Channel Islands and the UK compete to become breed and show champions.

It is free to get in, but for the competitors it has been months and years of hard work.

It is taking place at the Royal Jersey Showground in Trinity from 0900 to 1700 GMT on Saturday where the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society are holding their Spring Flower Show this weekend.

Gwyn Garfield-Bennett and her dog Beanie went to meet Thelma Alsford a trainer and breeder of Pomeranian dogs to get some tips for preparing your dog for a show.

She found out how to brush Beanie to make her look her best, and how to do the special show walk.
