French visitor drowned in Jersey harbour

An inquest has found that a French man who died on a boat trip to Jersey drowned.

Antoine Arcade, 41, fell into the harbour while very drunk, the inquest was told.

Mr Arcade, who was married, had arrived from St Malo with a group of friends in two private RIB boats on a day trip to the island.

His body was recovered by the coastguard from the harbour, near New North Quay, on Monday morning.

The duty officer from the States of Jersey Police said at the time that he understood Mr Arcade had been reported missing after the boats had docked at the Albert Pier.
