Skills awards for Jersey organisations

A number of Jersey organisations have been given a skills development award by the States of Jersey Skills Executive.

The award is for companies who are committed to training their staff.

Senator Alan Maclean, chairman of the Skills Executive, said organisations who helped develop employees made a contribution to society as a whole.

The top, platinum, awards were given to the St Ewolds Residential home and the Aquasplash swimming pool.

Longueville Manor, Bel Royal School, Pinewood residential home and St Clement's school all got gold awards and Les Roches Spa got a silver award.

Richard Plaster, from the Skills Board, said having a skilled workforce was essential if the island wanted to climb out of recession.
