Jersey flag to fly at both of the island's castles

A Jersey flag will be flying over Mont Orgueil and Elizabeth Castle for the first time.

The island flag will be replacing the Union flag.

Doug Ford from Jersey Heritage said flying the island's own flag was important for its identity.

"After a number of years of flying the Union flag at the top mast of both Mont Orgueil and Elizabeth Castle we had a request from the Crown Officers to fly the Jersey flag."

He added: "Traditionally we have flown the Union flag because both castles were crown garrisons."
