Jersey man dead for six weeks before being discovered

A man had been dead for six weeks before being found in his States of Jersey-run home, an inquest has heard.

The decomposed body of David Le Bourgeois, 66, was found on the sofa in his bedsit at Victoria Cottage Homes in Jersey at the beginning of April.

The home was part of a facility designed for retired people to live independently with support.

Mr Le Bourgeois's brother, Brian, said he wanted answers from the States. The housing department refused to comment.

Mr Le Bourgeois, who said he last saw his brother alive in February, said: "I wouldn't like it to happen to anybody else up there, questions have got to be answered."

He said he understood the police were investigating his brother's death.

The inquest into Mr le Bourgeois's death was adjourned while inquiries continue.
