Jersey free school milk petition signed by thousands

More than 10,000 people have signed a petition to bring back free school milk in Jersey, according to campaign organisers.

Free school milk was cut by the States of Jersey in September last year as part of plans to save public money.

Ted Vibert, who set up the petition earlier this year, said those who signed included 2,000 children.

The petition will be closed at the end of the month and will be given to the States later this summer.

Mr Vibert said: "We feel that when States members hear the evidence of the health benefits that were so understated by the Minister for Health, they will realise that stopping free milk for our nursery and primary school children for the sake of £132,000 was both mean spirited and poorly researched."
