Jersey farming to be studied by China scientists

Scientists from China are to visit Jersey in 2012 to discuss working with the island's farming industry.

China was developing its dairy industry and was keen to use Jersey expertise, Assistant Chief Minister Freddie Cohen - who helped arrange the visit - said.

An agreement to share expertise follows a States visit to China in June.

Mr Cohen said: "The Jersey cow and the island's rich agricultural heritage are valuable assets, especially to a country like China."

He added: "Entering into agreements like these with the world's second largest economy is a smart move and will ensure a successful future for Jersey's agriculture industry."
