French yacht rescued off Jersey's Noirmont Point

The skipper of a 31ft French yacht rescued by the St Helier Lifeboat has been described as "unlucky".

The yacht, with four people on board, was caught by the wind and the tide by the Les Fours buoy near Noirmont Point and was unable to get to safety after its engine broke down.

It was brought back to the harbour by the lifeboat.

The lifeboat crew said the skipper of the yacht "did everything he could but was just unlucky on this occasion".

The crew said the rescue was completed by 01:15 BST on Thursday.
