A 30-year-old man arrested in connection with the murders of six people in Jersey has been released from hospital into police custody.

Detectives want to question a man named locally as Damian Rzeszowski about the deaths in St Helier on 14 August.

Izabela Rzeszowska, her children Kinga and Kacper and her father Marek Garstki were killed.

Marta Dominika De La Haye, 34, and her five-year-old daughter Julia also died.

A spokesman for States of Jersey Police said: "The man, who has been under police guard in hospital while subject to ongoing treatment for his injuries since the incident at Victoria Crescent, St Helier, was declared well enough for discharge from hospital and, consequently, transferred to police detention."

Post-mortem examinations carried out on the victims confirmed they all died from stab wounds.
