The number of people unemployed in Jersey was the same in August as it was in July.

The States of Jersey Statistics Unit said 1,350 people were actively seeking work.

The number of people unemployed for a year or more has doubled over the past 12 months, and now makes up a fifth of the total.

And 290 teenagers aged 16-19 are actively seeking work, with 130 of those on the Advance to Work scheme.

The scheme provides 16 to 19 year olds who have left school or college with a work placement and training.
