Jersey ministers attend Conservative party conference

Jersey ministers are attending the Conservative party conference for the first time this year.

Senator Philip Ozouf, the Deputy Chief Minister and Senator Freddie Cohen, the Minister for UK and International Relations are attending the Tory party conference in Manchester.

During the three-day event, they will speak to delegates about Jersey's role in the British economy.

They also want to strengthen Jersey's political relationship with the UK.

Senator Ozouf said: "It is important for islanders that Jersey Ministers make new contacts and maintain existing relations with UK politicians so that we are better able to represent ourselves on the UK policy issues that affect us.

"These can be as diverse as health care and education through to fisheries and finance."

Last month, Senator Ozouf represented the island at the Liberal Democrat party conference.
