The Tassili restaurant at Grand Jersey has been given its first Michelin Star.

It is the third Jersey restaurant to gain the accolade.

It has joined Bohemia and the Ocean Restaurant at the Atlantic Hotel in winning the most sought after award in the restaurant trade.

Richard Allen has been executive head chef of Tassili since 2007, and within six months of arriving he was awarded three AA rosettes and has retained them for three years.

He describes his cuisine as imaginative in style, presented using the finest of ingredients, with a strong emphasis on local produce.

Richard Allen said: "The accolade is a culmination of years of hard work and dedication, for which I owe my team a great deal of thanks.

"I truly believe that you are no-one without the support of your team.

"Achieving a Michelin star has been my lifelong goal and I cannot begin to describe how much it means to me and to the team at Grand Jersey."
