Frenchman injured after motor boat hits rock off Jersey

A Frenchman was injured when his motor boat hit a rock off Jersey.

The seven-metre (23ft) vessel struck the rock west of Icho Tower near Le Hocq off Jersey's south-east coast just after 02:30 BST on Sunday.

The RNLI George Sullivan all-weather lifeboat was sent to rescue the man who had minor head and arm injuries.

The crew used salvage pumps to stop the vessel from sinking and towed it to St Helier. The man was taken to hospital and has now returned to France.
