Jersey senator wants mobile dental surgeries

Young children and older people in Jersey could get free home visits from dentists if a senator gets his way.

Senator Alan Breckon wants to introduce two mobile dental surgeries to visit primary schools and pensioners.

He said the cost of dental treatment meant some people only had their teeth checked as a last resort for emergency treatment.

The senator said he thought it would cost £1m to set up the service and £1m each year to run it.

He suggested it could be paid for from the government's health insurance fund.
