States of Jersey cuts holiday play schemes for children

Parents in Jersey will no longer be able to send their children to holiday activity schemes run by the government.

The States is cutting the play schemes because of the cost of running them and making sure staff are properly trained.

The Education, Sport and Culture Department said it would need to invest a lot of money to make sure the schemes were up to date.

Assistant Director Derek De La Haye said similar projects were provided by charity and private organisations.
