Jersey disabled toilets plan discussed in consultation

Changes to disabled toilets in Jersey which could result in improved changing facilities have been put out to a public consultation.

The proposals are for a height adjustable changing bench, a hoist and more space in the public toilets.

The plan was developed by disability charity Mencap. The consultation will end on 12 December.

The States said it could result in new buildings, or those being extended to have a toilet with the facilities.

Environment Minister Deputy Rob Duhamel said: "The proposition was unanimously supported by the States and I am pleased to be able to bring forward proposals that will make it a reality."
