Jersey roads shut as trees fall after winds of 60 knots

Jersey emergency service officers said winds of up to 60 knots caused roads to be blocked by fallen trees.

Busy roads like Queen's Road that were blocked have been cleared, but some smaller roads could still be affected.

Insp Alan Williamson said the weather was "appalling" and asked people to drive with extra care.

Jersey's Met Department issued a weather warning saying gale-force winds were expected to hit the island over the next four days.

Met officers said winds up to 60 knots would be combined with heavy rain, hail squalls and very rough high seas.

The storm gate at Elizabeth Marina may also be closed during the bad weather.
