An initiative to bring superfast internet speeds to Jersey will create 100 new jobs, according to JT Global.

The States is working with telecom company JT, who are investing millions of pounds in connecting every home to a fibre optic network.

Jersey's Chief Minister Senator Ian Gorst said it would boost the local jobs market and economy.

The company said there would be some training opportunities so job seekers could develop skills for the future.

The project to replace the current copper cable network with fibre-optic cabling will take about five years and has already started.
