St Brelade group to monitor planning applications

A group has been set up in St Brelade to monitor planning applications after over-development concerns.

The group will work with people who have objections to plans and work with developers to help alleviate problems from the start.

It was launched by Constable Steve Pallet who said he was concerned about inappropriate design in some areas.

He said: "I want to ensure we don't lose the beautiful coastline we've got, it is already spoilt in a few places."

Constable Pallet said although design was subjective, as a constable he had to ensure the coastline was not spoilt any more than it already had been.

"We won't be opposing every scheme that comes along, it will take on the concerns of objectors but it will also help developers and individuals to ensure they can alleviate problems before they raise their heads," he said.
