Meinl European Land Ltd probe: Business restrictions agreed

Three land company directors have agreed not to work in Jersey after an inquiry by Jersey's Financial Services Commission into financial irregularities found no evidence of wrongdoing.

Georg Kucian, Karel Römer and Heinrich Schwägler, who were directors of Meinl European Land Limited, have voluntarily agreed not to do business on the island or be involved in Jersey firms.

The commission looked at claims the company provided financial assistance to itself to buy its own shares. The inquiry is now closed and no action is being taken.

The company is now called Atrium European Real Estate Limited.

This story was amended on 10/2/2012 to reflect the fact that the directors worked for Meinl European Land Limited and not Meinl Bank and that the men voluntarily agreed not to do business in Jersey.
