Jersey soldiers charity seeing stress case increase

The founder of a Jersey charity that supports British soldiers said they were seeing more people psychologically affected by war.

Holidays for Heroes, which brings injured servicemen and women to the island, expects to help about 300 families in 2012.

Founder Richard Woodhouse said a growing number of soldiers had post-traumatic stress disorder.

In 2008 the charity brought in nine soldiers, that went up to 200 in 2011.

Mr Woodhouse said: "We've got 202 firm bookings already, which is way above last year and over half are post traumatic stress cases."
