Jersey charity sends containers to Ghana school

A pair of large containers filled with donations from Jersey's schools, businesses and the public have arrived in Ghana to help a school.

The 20ft-long gift boxes were filled with school uniforms, stationery, photocopiers, printers and furniture.

They have been sent to Dreamlands School in Akunda, which was built with funds from the Overseas Aid Commission.

Island Aid for World Children organised the containers and chairman Alan Cameron said they were well received.

Mr Cameron said: "The whole village turned out including the chief and education minister turned out for the arrival.

"They were overwhelmed by the amount of materials in them and the quality of the materials."
