Jersey politicians' interests to go online

The register of States members' interests in Jersey is to be made available online for the first time.

The chairman of the group bringing the proposition said the island was behind other areas in this matter.

Constable Simon Crowcroft said openness and transparency was part and parcel of being an elected member.

The previous States chamber approved the move in principle before the election but left it to the new house to make a final decision.

Constable Crowcroft said this was so new members would have been elected knowing what to expect.

Members approved the move by 38 votes to five with one abstention.
