Plymouth Life Centre gets Europe's 'largest' roller rink

A sports centre in Devon has hosted what is thought to be the largest roller-skating rink in Europe.

Plymouth Life Centre turned three sports halls into the rink measuring 22,000 sq-ft (6,705 sq-m). It will be created every Saturday for 450 skaters.

Managers at the centre said they were hopeful the skating sessions, where 300 pairs of skates are available for hire, would expand to three nights a week.

The £46m Life Centre opened in March with facilities including a 50m pool.

Olympic divers Tom Daley and Tonia Couch are based at the centre.
