A record number of runners are expected to take part in the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon, organisers have said.

So far, 530 runners have signed up for the 26.2 mile race, beating the 513 people who signed up for the 2011 marathon.

This year's race will be held on Sunday 7 October.

In March, it was announced that prize money for the marathon was being increased to £2,000 to attract more elite runners.

This is an increase of £500 on last year.
