Man breaks ankle while 'tombstoning' in Jersey

A man has broken his ankle in a suspected tombstoning incident in Jersey.

The 20-year-old was injured when he landed feet first on to submerged rocks while jumping into the sea near the island's desalination plant in Corbiere on Saturday.

Jersey Fire and Rescue Service said it believed the man misjudged the swell.

It added the incident showed how dangerous it was to jump into water without knowing what was underneath.
