Woman's body found by French Coastguard

Authorities in France and Jersey are trying to establish the identity of a body found off the French coast.

The French Coastguard found the woman off the coast of Granville, on the Cotentin Peninsula.

Jersey Police is investigating the disappearance of Fiona Jane Lord, who was last seen in the island on 28 November.

A spokesman for the force said it was too early to know if the body found in France was Ms Lord.

The 50-year-old, from Pontac in St Clement, went missing after the death of a family member.

The investigation, being led by CID, has included a search of fields near her home and a search of the coast conducted by a spotter plane.

Officers continue to appeal for anyone with any information about her disappearance to come forward.
