Man 'assaulted' on Les Ecrehous

A man from Jersey has been taken to hospital after an alleged assault on the nearby Ecrehous islands.

The man, in his 50s, was injured at about 16:00 BST on Saturday.

He was brought back to Jersey by lifeboat and his injuries were not believed to be serious, Jersey's States Police said.

Officers added they were investigating reports he was assaulted by two French men and said French police were assisting.

Les Ecrehous is a group of islands and reefs about six miles (10km) north-east of Jersey.
