Growing demand for talking therapy in Jersey

Jersey's health department says it is investing in a growing demand for psychological therapy.

The department said it was struggling to provide enough therapy alternatives to drugs, such as counselling, to deal with a rise in mental health issues.

It is working with GPs and the voluntary sector to increase services and develop new ones.

The department has been unable to put a figure on how much will be spent.

According to the department almost a quarter of islanders on continuing sick pay are experiencing depression, stress or anxiety.
