The former commander of St John Ambulance in Jersey has returned to lead the voluntary organisation.

John Pinel led the organisation from 2004 until 2010 and said he was "very pleased to re-appointed to this senior role".

It follows the death of the former head, Nigel Truscott in June, a year after the service became independent.

Former Bailiwick nursing officer Fiona Woodrow has been appointed to the position of deputy leader.
