More than 40 States homes will be built in Jersey after a decision by the planning minister.

The Belle Vue development will see 44 homes built at the Les Quennevais area of St Brelade including some wheelchair-friendly flats.

The plans submitted by Jersey's Housing Department are for nine three-bedroom houses and 35 two-bedroom affordable housing apartments.

Work has already started on the affordable homes.

There will also be an underground car park, communal play space and a route for the cycle track extension through to Les Quennevais playing fields.

The department said its design would be in keeping with 1930s-style buildings in the area.
