A man who used a kitchen knife during a raid at a shop has been jailed for three-and-a-half years.

Callum Hunt used the 8in (20cm) knife to threaten the cashier at the Co-op in Val Plaisant, St Helier, Jersey, in January.

Hunt, 21, from Stopford Road, pleased guilty to attempted robbery and possessing a weapon.

The Royal Court heard the cashier needed counselling following the attempted raid.

Judge Julian Clyde-Smith said it was a very serious offence.
