A distressed and injured Cocker spaniel was rescued from the cliffs at Beauport after becoming separated from its owner while out walking.

Cocoa was discovered on rocks at the foot of the cliff by Jersey Fire and Rescue.

His breathing was deteriorating and he was rushed to the New Era veterinary emergency room for treatment.

Incident Commander Clive Russell said: "This is a great outcome and a great test for our crews skills."

"We will always prefer to help with an animal rescue than have to respond to an owner that gets into difficulty trying to rescue their pet without the necessary equipment."
